Vianet, in partnership with CENGN, West Parry Sound Smart Community Network and with outstanding support from the Township of Carling are building Fibre-to-the-Home services to the rural community of Carling. Properties outside the fibre build area and within line of site to our tower will have access to Vianet’s fixed wireless network.
Vianet is expanding our Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) network in Carling Township. In collaboration with both the Federal and Provincial government, is another step towards our commitment to providing high-speed and reliable internet access to more residents in rural areas.
This project will see Vianet’s existing network extended north along portions of Carling Bay Road East and reaching out to Sawdust Bay Rd passing 100 homes and businesses. The construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year and Vianet encourages residents to reach out to order their service.
Our project is well underway to bring Better Internet to Carling township. Thanks to the teamwork of many our tower site is officially connected. On September 1st hydro was activated to the tower and our equipment was turned live almost immediately. We have successfully connected our first fibre customer and wireless site-checks have begun. Thank you to the residents in the area who have been patient with the disturbance as our contractors and teams worked to get the infrastructure in place. We look forward to scheduling many more installations in the coming weeks.
This project is made possible by our partnership with CENGN and Parry Sound Smart Community Networks and the ongoing commitment to better internet.

Completing this before and after your Vianet installation will help provide data to support future funding efforts in your area.
We understand that everyone is looking forward to your installation and we are too. Every family, student, home office employee, small business owner, senior and essential worker is excited to improve their connection. Our construction crews, administration and installation teams are working hard to get you connected and we appreciate the patience of everyone.
We understand what it takes to build rural broadband and funding is important. By partnering with CENGN both companies have made equal initial investments of $250,000 to see this rural community become equipped with reliable internet. Vianet is then investing an additional $200,000 to reach more homes with Fibre in the project area. With a fibre backbone already in Parry Sound and a Wireless tower positioned to support this project, the Carling area made sense.
For customers residing in either phase of our Fibre build, our 50 Mbps Unlimited Fibre service offers
you the best Internet in the area. If you are outside the Fibre area but close to our wireless tower
site request, a site check for our fixed wireless service.
Details on both services are found below.
Fibre optic internet lines transfer data using modulated light instead of electricity, which gives them
much higher bandwidth capacity, since they’re not bound by the physical limitations of electricity
conducting through metal. Fibre internet connections work at speeds literally 100 times faster than
those old copper wire connections.
There are many benefits that Fibre optics provide including reliability, scalability, stability, expert
support, increased speed which means increased productivity and futureproofing for you.
From initial engineering and planning, locates, construction and connection to the network, a lot goes into bringing fibre to your community.
There is a one time Basic Network Connection Fee of $1500 to connect to the network (up to 40m
from the road). An extended Network Connection Fee may be applicable.
Please contact us 1.800.788.0363 for complete details of your property.
Complete a wireless site check request to initiate the line of site availability with our Wireless Department.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as our construction crews work to build this network throughout your communities. Rest assured that they will return your neighbourhood to it’s peaceful beautiful landscape once the construction is completed.
